I have lived in Nottingham all my 49 years. I never really had a hobby until I discovered photography. I bought my first ‘proper’ camera in 1993. From that day I was hooked. Then came the hard part, learning to take photographs. I tried to do this alone, reading all the magazines and books that I could find in libraries, bookshops and newsagents.

My photography changed direction after joining a camera club. This made me realise that I wasn’t as good as I thought I was. Seeing other people’s work I decided I had a long way to go. However, being part of a camera club gave me access to the knowledge and skills that they contain. I have (in my own opinion) improved considerably in the past few years. Thanks must go to the people who have helped me over this time.

I now enjoy photographing landscapes and the natural world, but in my own way. I enjoy travel and walking, but always have my camera at hand. You never know when the perfect image will present itself.
